What Gospregledx does and who it serves

Gospregledx is an independent economics news publication based in Kolkata, West Bengal. We produce original reporting and analysis on the Indian economy, with consistent coverage of five subject areas: macroeconomic indicators, business conditions, the labour market, government policy, and the household-budget pressures facing ordinary families. Our primary audience is the professionally active Indian reader who follows economic news — middle-management professionals, small-business owners, graduate students in economics and public policy, and civil-service candidates who need reliable background on how the economy actually works. We do not target financial traders or investment audiences, and we publish nothing that constitutes investment advice. Our geographical focus is national, with a particular depth of coverage in Eastern India and the West Bengal economy. That regional grounding gives our policy coverage a practical dimension that purely Delhi-centred publications sometimes miss: we are close to the port of Kolkata, to the jute and textile industries, and to the informal labour markets of the eastern Gangetic plain, and that proximity shapes the questions we ask of national data.

How our editorial team works and what we will not promise

Gospregledx has operated since 2019 with a small, specialist team of five journalists and two data analysts. In five years of publication, we have produced more than 600 original articles, each sourced primarily from government statistical releases, RBI communications, parliamentary budget documents, and peer-reviewed economic research. We do not accept sponsored content, and no advertiser has editorial access. Our editorial process requires every quantitative claim to carry a source citation in the article body, and we publish corrections promptly when errors are identified. What we cannot promise is real-time coverage. Our model is deliberately slower than wire services: we publish when we have understood the story, not when we are first. We also cannot cover every sector of a ₹300-trillion economy in equal depth. Our stated coverage areas are the ones we staff for; readers seeking specialist coverage of sectors such as pharmaceuticals, defence procurement, or derivatives markets should treat our reporting in those areas as context rather than primary coverage. Our aim is to be genuinely reliable in the areas we do cover — and honest about where our coverage thins out.

Editorial principles that guide every article

Primary sources first

Every quantitative claim in a Gospregledx article traces back to a named official data release, a budget document, or a peer-reviewed source. We do not relay second-hand figures without identifying their origin.

Methodology transparency

When we cite a survey or an index, we tell you which version, which reference period, and what the significant methodological caveats are. Numbers without context mislead even when they are technically correct.

Corrections policy

Factual errors are corrected within 24 hours of identification, with a visible note appended to the original article. We do not delete or quietly amend text without acknowledgement.

Editorial independence

No sponsored content appears on Gospregledx. Commercial relationships, where they exist, are disclosed and have no influence on article selection, framing, or conclusions.
